Charlottenhof Palace, located in Brandenburg, is an outstanding example of the neoclassical architectural style. Built in 1826 for Frederick William IV of Prussia according to the plans of renowned 19th-century architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, this building is a significant landmark in architectural history.
In addition to its function as a royal residence for Frederick William IV and Elisabeth Ludovika of Bavaria, the palace served as a representative center for numerous royal events. Under the patronage of Frederick William IV, a dedicated supporter of art and culture, the palace became a meeting place for artists and art enthusiasts.
The adjoining park, also designed by Schinkel, impresses with its romantic gardens and picturesque landscapes. An idyllic lake, lined with atmospheric paths and bridges, is one of the highlights of the park and invites visitors to linger.
Today, Charlottenhof Palace is managed by the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg and attracts thousands of visitors as a cultural and tourist highlight. In recognition of its historical relevance and architectural uniqueness, the ensemble of palace and park has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
