Benrath Palace, built in the Rococo style in 1773, majestically stands in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and is an outstanding example of 18th-century architecture. Surrounded by a picturesque park, it was designed by architect Nicolas de Pigage for Elector Carl Theodor and his wife, Elisabeth Auguste of Palatinate-Sulzbach, as a summer residence. Due to its architectural brilliance and magnificent gardens, it quickly became a meeting place for the nobility and upper class.

The building complex is divided into the Cavalier Main Building, the Corps de Logis, and two symmetrical forecourt buildings. While the Cavalier Main Building served as the residence of the Elector, the Corps de Logis had representative functions. The forecourt buildings provided accommodations for guests and staff.

The exquisite interiors, designed in the French Rococo style, captivate with magnificent ceiling paintings, intricately decorated furniture, and impressive tapestries. During the Napoleonic era, Benrath Palace served as the seat of the French military governor and as a hospital. In later years, it had various uses, including as the residence of the Prussian crown prince and as a refuge for war refugees after bomb attacks.

Today, Benrath Palace serves as a museum and attracts numerous visitors every year who explore the magnificent interiors and gain insight into the noble life of the 18th century. It also hosts regular special exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events. The adjacent palace park offers ideal conditions for walks, bike rides, and jogging.
